Welcome to caopenspace.org
A collection of my "open space" photos,
most taken on day hikes around Los Angeles and Orange Counties. And now we have a few in Santa Barbara,
San Diego and Ventura Counties. On this site you will find trail pictures and other information about many
popular wild and scenic spots in Southern California.
"Open space" could be a state park or beach, a coastal
area, a wilderness park or natural preserve. Open space is good for our environment and offers many outdoor recreational
opportunities such as hiking, mountain biking, picnics, camping, wildlife and native plant viewing, photography or
just to enjoy the natural scenic beauty of California.

Well, it's California State budget time (still) and our State
Parks are again at risk, 70 parks scheduled to close in 2011/2012. What is the best thing you can do to help? Visit a California State Park! (Especially those on the closure list). On capenspace we have McGrath State Beach which was scheduled to be one of the first to go on Sept 6th 2011--but this park is saved and will reopen in 2012.
See the full list of state parks saved from closure, click here. Save our Parks!
Another fun way to help, promote our parks. Join "California State Park Photos" Facebook Group and share your pics and stories
